The McCann house is abuzz with preparing for winter - we're canning, preserving, freezing, and jamming. This makes for long days, and early nights!
Jaden is his usual self. The things this child comes out with sometimes, well it's a little scary.
1. His new favorite saying is "What the Heck" as in "What the Heck, let's just forget about lunch and play Planet Heroes."
2. The other day at the park, Jaden was more than a little peeved that some teenage boys wouldn't talk to him. When the girls came though he said "Oh, it's okay, because those girls will definitely talk to me. In fact, they are going to fall in love with me!"
3. Yesterday while picking blueberries, Jaden wanted me to pretend I was the Little Red Hen. Apparently I didn't stay in character well enough because he finally exclaimed "Mommy, can you please be the Little Red Hen, I don't want to have to tell you again!" :)
Lucas has learned how to blow raspberries - very cute. He's a pretty laid back kind of baby, that is until you take either his food or his toys away. Funny how they can let you know they don't like that.

California Pictures
Well, we're home from California and just days away from our trip to Winnipeg. California was a lot of fun, as you can see. The boys kept us hopping, but we got to do some really fun things and our time flew by.
Of course, there's a picture of Jaden chatting up a little girl. When we asked him who he was talking to he said "A little girl. I was talking to her because she is beautiful."..... Hmmm.

Some June Pictures
Well, it's mid-June. In a couple of weeks we'll start our summer travel. Hopefully it will all go as smooth as our other traveller, Jaden.
Lucas seems to be near to cutting a tooth - his gums are white and he's pretty crusty.
At his last doc's visit he was 15.75 pounds and 27.25 inches - a big boy! Needless to say he's eating solid foods - carrots and peas are thumbs up. In fact, there's nothing thumbs down in his eyes yet. Go figure. :)
Jaden just finished Kiddy Camp - a kid's program where he was gone for two and a half hours every weekday. He loved it, which is good since that will be the preschool he's going to in the fall.

Just a Few Pictures
The month has flown by, of course. Lucas is getting huge. He still loves the ceiling fan, and stares at it adoringly. Sometimes I wonder if its the same thing as a duck thinking a human is its mother . What is that called again? Anyway, he's laughing now and reaching for things. And putting whatever he gets hold of into his mouth (already!).
Jaden just finished a sports development class, and he loved it. Though he doesn't always participate fully.

This Week in Pictures
This week we had a visit from "Nana Berry" and "Papa Don" - they were great at keeping the boys busy! Jaden rode his two wheeler over two miles up to the park and back. He was of course pretty tired, but what a trooper! None of us thought he would make it.
Lucas started cereal this week, since he was up to 40 ounces of formula a day and not happy. Of course he knew pretty much what to do, and has been happy and content ever since. We go to the doctor's this week for both boys, so I'll let you know the details.

Eyes in the Back of My Head
This morning I was reading a story to Jaden that talked about Janus - the greek god with two faces, one at the front and one at the back. Now, I always tell Jaden I have eyes in the back of my head and about a month ago we talked about it and I thought I was fairly convincing. I was pretty sure I had him convinced I really do have eyes back there.
So of course this morning, Jaden -completely serious- says to me "You don't have a nose or a mouth like Janus does, do you mommy? You only have eyes in the back of your head, right?" So I looked at him and turned my head and said " Can you see my eyes back there?" to which he replied, "Nope, they're covered by your hair." Too funny.

Funny Hat Day
Funny Hat Day was a holiday celebrated in the McCann household because the days are long. . . Jaden of course loved it, though he wondered why everyone on the street wasn't wearing a funny hat. He wanted to have a parade....thankfully I convinced him it would be more fun to play cards!
Jaden is increasingly becoming quite the character. Ever sweet, he definitely has a mischievous side that at times can be a little . . . .trying . . . . to deal with.
This morning as I was chatting with Shelley, Jaden was trying desperately to get my attention. He said, finally after trying everything he could think of "I have an idea mommy. And you're not going to like it." I didn't. He brought up his toy piano and sat beside me and began banging and belting out a tune. Needless to say I sent him across the room so I could hear my sister on the other end....
He also likes to make a deal. As in, "Mommy let's make a deal. How about you color with me FIRST and THEN you can go make the beds." It's never a very good deal for me.
This week in pictures
The family is doing quite well - as you can see, we're about as silly as ever. I particularly love the picture of Tyson with Lucas and Jaden - this is the definition of fatherhood....
Lucas is a happy, smiley, content little baby. He likes to just kind of look around. Thank god he's pretty low maintenance so far. hehe.
As you can see, hats are in fashion in our household. My dining room table either looks like a puzzle table or an arts and crafts station 9/10 of the time. Usually there's enough room for us to eat inbetween the puzzle pieces and craft glue. Thankfully no dinner plates have been glued to the table yet. I can't WAIT for summer. :)
Jaden's latest is wanting to stop and wait to watch automatic doors close. Somehow in his little world this is a magical thing. He seems to think there are ghosts closing the doors for us. I told him no, there's just miniature men who push a button to open and close the door. I orginally thought to tell him the truth about motion sensors - but where's the fun in that?
